日本はいなくて寂しいよ。

Yellow

Yellow is the colour of royalty in Asian cultures. In our context today, it takes on the meanings that were once associated with royalty, including DIGNITY, leadership and a concern for the welfare of others.

Book

School Crest:

Our School Crest consists of six symbols.

At the tip of the crest, a majestic LION stands on top of a TOWER .

Adorned with the colours of gold and maroon in four separate panels are the symbols of TURTLE , WHEEL , LAMP , and WINGED SHOE .

LION	The majestic Lion is a symbol of Singapore. It signifies courage and nobility.
TOWER	Beneath the Lion is a mighty Tower. The Tower symbolises our school, a citadel of learning.
TURTLE	The Turtle is a symbol of our "Katong" school. It also represents wisdom and accumulation of knowledge, while providing an anchor by virtue of its steadfastness.
WHEEL	The Wheel guides us in our endeavours, giving us purpose, direction and the determination to succeed.
LAMP	The Lamp symbolises our continual quest for knowledge and learning.
WINGED SHOE	In Greek mythology, the Winged Shoe is the shoe of Hermes, son of the Greek God, Zeus. It symbolises physical and mental agility, ingenuity and adaptability.

Society's GREAT Expectations... but where art thine?

People expect TOO MUCH...
From birth till death...
We're CONSTANTLY, ENDLESSLY being EXPECTED to fulfil OTHERS' GREAT expectations...
But where art thine?

Birth - cuteness... learning abilities...
School - academic results... excellence in extra-curricular activities...
Work - salary increments & climbing the corporate ladder...
Singlehood - boyfriend/girlfriend calibre & quality... Tying the knot...
Marriage - buying house... buying car... having kids...
Middle age - paying house and car loans... kids' education fees...
Old age - self-improvement... extended retirement ages...
Death - insurance... inheritance for younger generations...

Yes...
Even in death, people have expectations of you that you have to meet...
Isn't that scary?

BUT....
WHERE ARE YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS?
It IS YOUR OWN life...
Why don't you have MORE say in it?
Why do you have to slave away your life trying SO HARD to meet everyone's demands?

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND...
It's even come to the depressingly SAD point that it is NEWS to see singles having to hire social escorts to pose as their boyfriends/girlfriends to "fight off" all the negative remarks and questions being thrown at them during Lunar New Year...
And BOY it doesn't come cheap...
Rates can differ WIDELY according to who (they meet), where (they go), and what (they do)...
*phew!*

Don't people even realise that it's becoming a self-fulfiling prophecy?
The MORE parents and relatives pressure them about being single, the MORE they are straying from the passion of wanting an actual relationship!!!

SO please...
Before the Pygmalion effect seeps its deep DARK roots in and push someone into depression...
Give others a break, and cease all the stereotypical comments and OVERLY GREAT expectations!!!
Cos not EVERYONE wants the SAME thing in life...
And they should be allowed to make their OWN decisions...
