New SUPERIOR... New rules...

today is another weird lunching moment in e office when my new snr producer... who's also my colleague & buddy's superior so to say... i must say she's a real pain in e *** without trying at all... i'm not even sure if its conscious... here's a list of her weird behavior:


1. ULTRA STRONG ACCENT - Cos she studied in e states, she has this VERY STRONG SLANG that can really get on people's nerves sometimes... I mean u have already came back to e country for so long already, n u only go there n study n work for e most like 4 to 5 years... is it possible to catch on e accent & hold on to it so long??? even my cousin who went to e states to study for 4 years, n now staying for another 2 more years to do her masters dun have tt slang... it's ridiculous...


2. POSSIBLE WOLF IN SHEEPSKIN?? - Cos she looks rather chubby, and has a very common & plain & honest kind of face, u won't think too bad of her... but we're wary of her cos she's recommended by my boss' (Your Highness THE Slave Driver) friend ... another slave driver tt even slave drives ppl that r not her own staff or subordinates at our company's birthday party, which our boss has very kindly asked her to help out with n turned out that Alwaysane n me had to buy n carry 3 packets of ice each from 7-11 all e way back to e office n then up e 3 floors to our office... yes we were coolies tt day... shifting furniture, food, etc all around...then still REMINDED us that WE have to clear e trash bins now n then cos they were filling up!!!! then later when everybody not eating, then she asked us to SERVE e food to them... as if BARTENDERING wasn't bad enuff... we had to learn how to mix drinks there n then... luckily we didn't OD-ed anyone...


3. SLAVE DRIVER NO.2 - ok boss this week not in town so she's e NEW BOSS so to say... but not much action till come one sunny wed suddenly "Guys, can we have a meeting now?"... just in case u dunno... tt's EXACTLY how our boss does it... then during e meeting..."So wassup?"...u tell her ur projects updates... "So ...blah blah blah..."... basically repeats wat u said before...

then tells me tt i have to do a storyboard for a quotation request tt SHE had to write an outline/ idea on... then i mentioned that "ain't it a quotation? not a proposal? why need to do storyboard?"... her reply "cos BOSS wants it..."... ok nvm i do... but she dun have any ideas... so we brainstorm... we give her a lot of creative ideas on how to make e docu more interesting... she erm & ah... then in e end retreats to her desk to write e outline... then another few hours go by and no news ... then turns out she STILL dunno wat to do... then she comes ard n says she still not quite sure how to be innovative in e script... then we say its more of e editing n e way u structure it...

only at 3 plus then she passes me e outline... then i'm expected to start on e storyboard... when I asked her wats e deadline… her reply is “I’m not sure…” then I probe further… “is it due today?”… she says “she didn’t say she just said to get started on it… but then if u can finish it today then finish it today…”… then I replied “I dun think I can finish it today… cos I need time to look for suitable pics, etc” then she said “well just do ur best…” frankly speaking my best would be tt I can finish it within one day if u give me a proper outline as well as what u want in graphics, style, etc… if I have to figure out all these myself… I might take one day or two even… n since her outline was rather unclear… I couldn’t do a lot even until she gave me e outline at 3 plus… ok have to inform ALL that our working hours is from 9 to 5.30… lunch time should be 1h but is often cut down to 30mins or even lesser cos we buy back to eat in e office cos we have work to rush… so with about 2h or less to work with…

do u think one can come up with a storyboard for a 12min docu even if e person is Superman or a witch tt can cast a spell & everything will be a okay… obviously I am not THE PERSON… I dun have e POWERS… I dun have e ABILITIES to do such sloppy work… I think I’m also a bit of a perfectionist… I want my work to be perfect at least in my eyes before it goes out… so I think its unfair for her to leave me with so insufficient time to do my job well…

in e end suddenly as I was cursing under my breath abt my boss n her new “pet”… she suddenly called… wat a coincidence… of cos I dun sound enthusiastic… cos she shocked me… anyway another one of those “so how’s everything going?” n u said “ok lor..” then she probes further… then u say everything out to satisfy her… then she gets sick of e info then she says sth n asked u to pass it on to e next victim…


4. FAKING & PR QUEEN – well basically she’s not really faking… but she tends to have all these very fake, hypocritical PR kind of calls with e CLIENTS she’s handling at e moment… u noe e kind when u hear her speak a lot of other crap… then a lot of giggling n laughing… then bits of actual info… then crap again… then giggles, etc… these calls can take up to 15mins per call… I’m serious… all that giggling, etc… all takes up call time… where has all e efficient & hardworking workers gone to??? when it comes to calling e crew/ e post pdn ppl… she gets us to call on her behalf… cos she NEVER does it… when we ask her.. she haven’t done it… n its not like she dun have e phone numbers… we have a list of all impt & frequently used numbers on all our tables… & considering tt USED TO BE MY table… of cos there is a list there… she just dun use it… then she makes me fellow colleague have to call on her behalf then feedback to her or update her…

even my boss makes e calls herself… its like damn BIG SHOT behaviour… even if our boss treats US (basically me n my colleague) like personal assistants, cleaning ladies, multi-purpose slaves, admin staff, HR staff, courier gals, etc… its no choicefor us cos she’s our boss, we’re taking a salary from her… but as for THIS ONE… it’s unreasonable we feel… its not as if it’s a very difficult task… n how much time will it take to pick up e damn phone n make a call… I think its much faster than typing an email then waiting for a reply… more instant… more efficient… dun understand why she prefers to correspond via email with ALL her CLIENTS… n she dun check her emails very regularly… or read them properly… n she oso NEVER CC those involved like my colleague in the correspondence… so terrible… u want ppl to help/assist u, but u dun let them in on everything… how do u expect ppl to know things???

Ok fake PR behaviour with clients aside… she oso tries it on US… yea I’m serious US… e fellow colleagues… she tries very very very very very very very hard to assimilate into our group… cos my colleague n I sort of went thru thick n thin already n r on quite good terms… pouring out of hearts kind of terms basically n can talk abt anything under e sun from crappy to serious stuff & work… she tries to assimilate by sharing her experience in e US… & e movies, music, etc… but she always in e end come off preachy & sound like she’s talking DOWN to you… like she’s trying to teach u something cos u know NOTHING about it… so I kinds dun feel comfortable with that… I mean how can u bear your heart to someone who talks down to u as if she’s ur teacher or something… so most of e time I will prematurely make some excuse to go away n leaving my colleague to entertain her… n I mean she can REALLY get NAGGY & make me sleepy… how many times can u say e same time??? Only my colleague who has a even more long-winded fren can stand her… I can’t a bit longer I feel as if my mum is nagging at me… & even my mum gets e cold shoulder when tt happens… I mean I do try to accommodate as much as I can… can understand that older ppl feel lonelier n need to tok to ppl more… but she’s only like 30 plus… gosh…

basically she’s on good terms with e boss already… hey she got a welcome lunch treat at posh & expensive restaurant… n perfectly placed on a day where I had to go for a presentation to my client out in a far n forsaken area… yes of cos I couldn’t & didn’t go… my presentation is at 2pm… I need at least 30mins to travel to e location… I have to leave earlier to meet e client before e presentation… so I had to leave at 1pm latest…. My lunch was bought by my colleague when she went out to run errands n its fastfood… BK… paid with MY OWN $$$... & while I’m trying to fight for e hard work I’ve put in for the video in e presentation & fighting for them not to make ridiculous requests for changes… the 3 of them are enjoying a long & expensive lunch at a posh & expensive restaurant…

e BEST thing is when my boss announces tt we should go for lunch together to welcome her… when she FULLY knows tt I’m covering her backside to go for e presentation cos she said she has another presentation, but obviously not cos she can go enjoy long lunch with them… backside… in e end I was tortured by e panel of over 10 ppl… luckily I had previous experience with such old fogey mindset panel of clients & hopefully handled them diplomatically… yes I who helped her handle those whom she detests is left to my own devices at the mercy of a panel of more than 10 old fogeys… whilst they enjoy a posh lunch… how grateful I am for e opportunity to learn… to learn how to differentiate e good from e bad…


5. DIRTY FELLOW – she has bad hygiene… she never wash her hands b4 she eats… even when she’s eating food with her… like she ate fried wanton yesterday for her lunch (despite claiming she had high fever up to 38.3 degree Celsius e previous nite b4)… she used her hands & never wash b4… not sure abt after though… then a pear… then today even worse… we ordered pizza in for lunch cos it was raining… offered to her oso… she ate n again she didn’t wash her hands b4… but after eating e pizza was so oily… my fingers were stained with oil… I immediately went to wash them n wash my own plate n get green tea… she not only didn’t she scratched her head & hair with her hands!!!! That’s when I went off to wash my plate… too disgusting for me… then later I came back she still didn’t go & wash up… in e end I went back to my work… n she carried on talking to my colleague abt a movie I was keen to watch cos got one of my fave singers inside… his big screen debut… then she knows I like tt person… then she chose to tell my colleague abt e movie when I went to wash e stuff… when my colleague said she already watched e movie n she’s telling her abt it… i said dun tell me I dun wanna noe I wanna watch it myself… then she said “see tt’s y I waited for her to go in first then tell u…” so fake rite??? Anyway in e end she STILL continued to criticize it even after I came out… so I retreated to my desk back to my work… its kinda inconsiderate… cos ppl wanna watch it n u say so much ppl won’t enjoy it anymore… at e end she still asked me if I’m sure I dun want her to tell me anything abt it… I said no thanks… then I think she kinda got my hint tt I REALLY dun wanna noe cos it’ll spoil my experience… then she said “anyway I think u’ll enjoy it, cos u like e lead…” bunch of crap… u’ve already said EVERYTHING under e sun abt e movie & e whole spiel abt not liking to watch such movies… then dun watch lor… y force urself n waste $$ & torture e rest tt like such movies??? Diff ppl have diff taste…


6. LAZY SLOTH/ SLACKER – I’ve never seen anyone move as slow as this one at work… virtually a sloth in human skin… a script tt we can finish in maybe 2 or 3 days she takes a week… n still can’t finish… somemore she’s supposed to be e experienced… boss can say tt our writing is bad… cos we’re not trained to write promo & PR & selling kind of stuff… we write REAL docu scripts… creative ones too tt can win awards… I dun mind being looked down on… but at least u need to have better & actual work to show me to prove to me tt u’re worth my respect cos u r good… I can learn from u… not just all talk & no action… no proof…


7. EGOCENTRIC HOBBIT – true to the description… she dun care abt her surroundings… lives a totally detached life from e happenings around her… when u work in a small office u have to do some upkeeping work too right…??? Everyone has a part to play… but apparently not for her… she dun answer calls, we take them & transfer them to her... she dun check if e switches r all off & everything tt’s supposed to be off r off b4 she leaves e office… she dun open e windows & latch them properly in e morning… she dun fill up e water & hot flask when e water levels r running low… she dun clear trash… she dun even open new packets of printing paper when e pile in used is finished (& its on e stand next to her desk)… ALL THESE r done by my colleague & I… we’re all graduates n degree holders here in e office… no need to say tt I’m a degree holder I dun clear trash, etc… everyone’s equal… well almost… cos I think both she n boss has a master’s degree… so well… if more schooling helps in ur social, life, & work skills fine… but then its like they r even worse than us in terms of all these… those under them dun feel tt they r worthy of their respect… tt means they r failures in e school of life/ society…

thats all e weirdo behavior i have on her as of now... coming to a month... already so much to complain... i am such a complain queen...
