Slyester Sim's new album out soon... overseas talent vs local talent back from overseas

Today marks the day that Sly comes to somewhere extremely near my office for a publicity stunt to promote his new album which is not out yet... can't be bothered to go check him out anyway...

I'm actually very very very surprised that the producers actually took one of his songs from his band and totally recorded it wholesale in his new album... Though it would be a bit against the band's creative copyright or something... Even though it's a nice song... heard it from the band's website before...

Isn't it rather sad that people that are talented always have to go the very hard way - aka out of the country then back - before ever smelling the scent of sweet success???

It's like that with the music industry... It's also the same for the film industry...

best examples from the music industry are:
- Kit Chan
- Mavis Hee
- Stephanie Sun
- Tanya Chua
- A-Do
- JJ Lim

best example from the film industry include:
- Royston Tan

but i see that there are actually examples of people that are so blessed that they don't have to do much and still get the same credentials... example??? think harder... i know you should know...

even the most amazing actors like Tom Cruise, Takashi Kaneshiro had to go through it the hard way... what makes THEM so special??? i think it all boils down to one thing....

$$$$

with the financial backing of Mediacorp Raintree Pictures and his hotel tycoon family respectively... i think we're still gonna see the duo around a looooong time... hopefully some day they'll make way for newer and better talent...

cheerio...
